Protesters hurled stones at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s house in his hometown Damak on Monday. Police fired warning shots to control the situation.
The demonstrators also blocked the East-West Highway by setting tyres on fire at three points between the Campus Gate and Chiya Dokan, halting traffic for about half an hour.
Earlier clashes between protesters and police in Damak left around 10 people injured. Police were reported to have opened fire also in Birtamod. The unrest followed demonstrations and arson in front of the Damak Municipality office, after which protesters moved towards the prime minister’s house.
