Taplejung
A magnitude 4.1 earthquake jolted Taplejung and adjoining districts on Saturday night.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the earthquake with its epicentre in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality was recorded at 10:30pm.
Locals said the earthquake shook the ground strongly. Ward Chair of Phaktanglung-2 Bhupendra Chaulagain said there is no information on the damage yet.
The 6.8 magnitude earthquake, which was centred between Taplejung and the bordering Indian state of Sikkim, on 18 September 2011 killed nine people and destroyed or damaged an estimated 30,000 homes in eastern and central regions of the country; Taplejung being hit the hardest.
