Police on Friday arrested a man, convicted in a rape case, after 19 years on the run.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Nabin Krishna Bhandari, Barahakshetra-9 local Arjun Bishwakarma was taken into police custody from ward 12 of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.
On May 12, 2010, the Supreme Court had handed Bishwakarma a jail sentence of 9 years 5 months and 19 days on charge of raping a 15-year-old girl on December 8, 2004.
The convict was produced before the Sunsari District Court soon after his arrest and has been sent to the Jhumka regional prison to serve his sentence, Bhandari said.
