The first meeting of the Province 1 Assembly passed the proposal to conduct meetings by adopting the Provincial Assembly Regulations 2018 (First Amendment) by a majority voice vote on Sunday.

After Gyanand Mandal Gangai, presiding over the Assembly as the senior-most lawmaker, allocated time for Nepali Congress’ lawmaker Bhim Parajuli, the latter presented the proposal.

The proposal was passed by the Assembly after UML’s lawmaker Lila Ballabh Adhikari supported it.

Outgoing Minister of Internal Affairs and Law Kedar Karki tabled the ordinance to make arrangements regarding the formation, operation and conditions of service of the provincial civil service and the ordinance to amend some provincial acts. Both ordinances were issued in 2022.

The Assembly also passed a condolence motion on the demise of serving Forest, Environment and Land Conservation Minister Shekhar Chandra Thapa. He died on November 9 due to dengue.

The second meeting of the Assembly will be held on January 9 at 1 pm.
