One injured as armed assailants open fire at bank security personnel in Morang

A security guard was injured after shots were fired as armed assailants tried to enter a private bank in Dhanpalthan Rural Municipality of Morang district on Monday.
According to the police, a group of four to five assailants fired at Sital Kunwar, the security guard, of Rangeli Municipality, while trying to forcefully enter the Barsiya Bazaar branch of Citizens Bank.
District Police Office spokesperson DSP Dipak Shrestha informed that Kunwar is undergoing treatment at Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital.
Doctors involved in the treatment informed that Kunwar has sustained bullet injuries to the back of his neck.
Local witnesses say that the assailants fired three shots as they tried to breach the bank.
Shrestha informed that police have arrested three individuals, who were on the run following the incident, from the Nepal-India border area.
Police opened fire at the assailants and one of them sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
Of the arrested, two are Indian nationals and one a local from Biratnagar, according to the police.
Shrestha informed that police are questioning the arrested individuals at Area Police Office, Rangeli, and investigation is underway.
The authorities are yet to determine the extent of robbery committed by the perpetrators, said Shrestha.
