Ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane has said the government will revise or reverse its decisions if they are found to harm the public rather than benefit them.

Addressing a programme at the party’s parliamentary office in Singha Durbar on Saturday, where leaders from various political parties in Rautahat joined the RSP, Lamichhane said the government’s intentions were genuine but acknowledged that some decisions might need to be corrected based on their impact.

“There should be no doubt about the government’s intentions. Decisions can sometimes prove flawed, and they can be corrected. But if the intention itself is wrong, that is far more difficult to change,” Lamichhane said.

He said the government would not hesitate to revise its decisions if measures introduced to benefit the public ended up causing harm instead.

Referring to feedback about the decisions affecting farmers, workers and ordinary citizens, Lamichhane said those found to be impractical or counterproductive during implementation would be amended.

He added that while some decisions may need to be revised over time, others could require immediate reversal if they caused harm.

“If a decision causes substantial harm, it may have to be changed overnight,” he said.

Lamichhane urged party supporters to hold the RSP accountable if it strayed from its stated principles, saying members should not merely applaud the party but also speak out when necessary.

“This is your party. If it goes in the wrong direction while you are part of it, it is your responsibility to warn us, not just applaud us,” he said.

He also said RSP lawmakers should formally raise constituents’ concerns with the relevant ministries, adding that the party would intervene if ministries failed to act on legitimate, citizen-centred issues.
