A Nepali national was among three people killed in an Iranian attack in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE Ministry of Defence said.
In an official statement, the ministry said on Sunday that the fatalities included nationals of Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan, while 58 others sustained minor injuries.
Tej Bahadur Chhetri, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UAE, confirmed that the embassy had received information regarding the death of one Nepali citizen.
“We have been informed about the death of a Nepali national, but detailed information has not yet been provided,” Chhetri said, adding that UAE authorities have yet to formally release the identities of the deceased.
The UAE Ministry of Defence said its air force and air defence systems had “so far dealt with 165 ballistic missiles, two cruise missiles and 541 Iranian drones since the start of the Iranian attack”.
The ministry said debris resulting from interceptions fell in several areas, causing minor to moderate damage to civilian properties.
It also affirmed the capability of UAE air defence forces to counter multiple threats and stressed that “the safety of citizens, residents and visitors remains a top priority that cannot be compromised”.
The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, prompting heightened concern over the safety of Nepali nationals working in the region.
