Nepali woman killed after being hit by car in California

A 57-year-old Nepali woman was killed in El Cerrito, California, on Thursday when she was hit by a car while crossing the street.
The crash happened around 5:40am on the 1700 block of Eastshore Boulevard, KRON4 News reported, quoting the El Cerrito Police Department.
The deceased is identified as Sumitra Gurung.
“Preliminary information indicates that the pedestrian was crossing Eastshore Boulevard mid-block when she was struck by the vehicle travelling northbound,” police said.
Paramedics responded and attempted to revive the woman, but she died of her injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the car remained at the crash and is cooperating with investigators, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
