Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has congratulated Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), on securing nearly a two-thirds majority in the recently concluded parliamentary elections.

Dahal’s chief personal secretary, Gobinda Acharya, confirmed the congratulatory message. “Coordinator Prachanda has extended congratulations to RSP president Lamichhane, wishing him a successful tenure ahead, as the RSP has secured supermajority seats,” he said.

The RSP secured a sweeping victory in the polls with nearly two-thirds of the seats in the House of Representatives (HoR). Under Nepal’s electoral system, a party requires 184 seats in the 275-member HoR for a two-thirds majority.

Lamichhane won a parliamentary seat from Chitwan-2, while Dahal won from Rukum East.
