Election Commission confirms 186,000 temporary voters for upcoming polls
Civil servants, security personnel, and inmates to exercise franchise under the Proportional Representation system at 143 designated polling stations.Post Report
A total of 186,000 temporary voters have been officially registered for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, the Election Commission (EC) said.
Kul Bahadur GC, spokesperson of the Election Commission, noted that the temporary voters are permitted to cast their ballots under the Proportional Representation (PR) category at the designated polling stations.
Under existing legal provisions, individuals whose names are on the master electoral roll but are unable to reach their permanent polling stations due to election duties or other prescribed circumstances are enrolled on the temporary voter list.
This category primarily includes employees of the Government of Nepal, provincial governments, local governments, and state-owned entities. It also encompasses personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal, as well as inmates and detainees in correctional facilities.
Additionally, election staff, security personnel deployed for poll duty, and heads and officials of constitutional bodies whose names are already in the permanent voters' list are also included in the list as temporary voters.
GC confirmed that the electoral authority has established 143 polling stations nationwide to accommodate these temporary voters.
