The Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal, and various project implementing agencies signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday to implement 10 high-impact community development projects in Nepal under India's grant assistance.
According to the Indian embassy, the projects, worth Rs625 million, will be executed in the education, health, and culture sectors across Nepal.
The projects include the construction of Sanba Secondary School in Taplejung, Ngagyur Nyngma Palyul Dhongag Chholing Monastery in Solukhumbu, and Nepal-Bharat Maitri E-Library at Shree Rastriya Primary School in Chitwan. Similarly, two health post buildings will be constructed in Sindhupalchowk, while new school buildings will be built for Ninyukharka Secondary School in Gulmi, Naya Gaun Secondary School in Rupandehi, and Siddhanath Secondary School in Kailali. Additionally, Nepal-Bharat Maitri Hospital in Humla and Shree Satyavadi Secondary School's administrative and hostel buildings in Bajhang are also part of the agreement.
“These projects will help provide better educational, healthcare, and cultural facilities to the people of Nepal,” the Indian embassy said in a statement.
Since 2003, India has undertaken 573 such projects in Nepal, with 495 already completed. The projects cover various sectors, including education, health, roads and bridges, river training, drinking water, electrification, irrigation, and social welfare.
“As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation,” the embassy stated, adding that the implementation of these projects “reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in growth and development.”
