British Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, arrived in Nepal on Tuesday afternoon for a private visit. The royal couple landed in Kathmandu after a brief stopover in New Delhi, following their visit to Mumbai, India.
Prince Edward, who is the younger brother of King Charles III, was welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, along with other officials.

The couple’s visit includes meetings with key figures, including President Ramchandra Poudel.
Sophie, the Duchess, arrived directly from London and joined her husband in Kathmandu. The visit is part of their ongoing tour of the region.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the couple will be in Nepal till February 9.
