Janata Samajbadi Party joins government
Pradip Yadav sworn in as minister for health and population and Hasina Khan as state minister.Post Report
The newly formed Janata Samajbadi Party joined the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government on Monday.
President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office to Pradip Yadav, the party’s deputy general secretary, as Minister for Health and Population at a ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s Office.
Likewise, Prime Minister Dahal administered the oath of office of secrecy to State Minister for Health and Population Hasina Khan, the President’s Office said in a statement.
Earlier today, the party recommended their names to the prime minister for appointment. The party also recommended Ranju Jha for the appointment as a minister. However, her appointment is uncertain as no ministerial portfolio is vacant now.
Nawal Kishor Shah Sudi from the same party is currently the minister for Forest and Environment.
A group of leaders led by Ashok Rai split the Upendra Yadav-led party last week to form the Janata Samajbadi Party.
As the new party joins the Dahal-led Cabinet, the Yadav’s party has pulled out of the government and also withdrawn its support.
Earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav resigned from the post. Yadav, also the chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Dahal, saying that he couldn’t stay in the Dahal-led government any longer in the changed political context.
Similarly, Minister of State for Forest and Environment Deepak Karki from the same party also tendered his resignation.
