US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who is on a two-day official Nepal visit, met Foreign Minister Bimala Rai Paudyal on Monday afternoon.

On the occasion, both sides discussed various matters of mutual interest in bilateral and multilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a tweet.

Earlier today, Nuland met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamala Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and discussed various matters related to bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interests

Nuland is the senior-most US official to come to Kathmandu after the visit of US Under Secretary for Civilian Security-Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya last May. Nuland has the experience of working with three American presidents, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and George W Bush.

Before wrapping up her visit today, she will also interact with journalists.
