Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,035 with two more deaths; national tally reaches 271,707 with 105 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported two more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,035. The country also recorded 105 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 271,707 with 2,108 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 267,564 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 272 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 58 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 43 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 12 in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,025. While Kathmandu has reported 500 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 999 individuals from Bagmati Province, 288 from Lumbini Province, 228 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 2,088,372 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 2,799 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, four cases were recorded in Province 1, one in Provincie 2 and 65 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim reported 14, 18, two and one cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Friday, 64 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 13 others—nine in Bagmati Province, three in Lumbini and one in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported two Covid-19-related deaths and 171 new cases. Similarly, 142 new infections and one death were recorded in the country on Wednesday and 171 new infections and one death on Tuesday.
