With three new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 295
Three individuals, two women and a man, tested positive for the virus in Morang and Dhankuta, the Health Ministry confirmed.Post Report
Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 295 after three new cases were confirmed in Morang and Dhankuta on Sunday evening.
"Samples of a 34-year-old woman from Dhankuta and a 29-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man from Morang came back positive at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Sunday," said the Health Ministry in a statement. “The health condition of all the patients is normal and they are in contact with the health officials.”
With the new cases, Sunsasri has become the only Tarai district which has not reported any Covid-19 case yet.
Earlier in the day, the ministry had confirmed 11 new cases with one death. Ten men from Rautahat were confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus in the morning and a 25-year-old man who died in a quarantine facility in Banke was found to be infected with the virus.
On Saturday, Nepal had reported 14 new cases and its first death.
The Health Ministry said late Saturday that a 29-year-old woman from Barhabise in Sindhupalchok who died on the way to Dhulikhel Hospital was the first Covid-19 fatality in the country.
With the authorities expediting testing, more cases are being reported from across the country.
The government has anticipated an exponential rise in the Covid-19 cases throughout the country—1,000 within a week and around 2,000 in 10 days.
Parsa district has so far reported the highest number of cases, with 91 active cases of the coronavirus. The number of cases in Kapilvastu has now reached 42. Thirty-four cases have been reported in Banke and 33 in Udayapur, along with 28 cases in Rupandehi.
Rautahat has now reported 13 cases while seven cases have been detected in Kathmandu.
Dhanusa has reported six cases. Kailali has reported four cases, with three cases each from Chitwan, Dang, Sarlahi, Bara and Mahottari. Baglung, Dhading, Jhapa, Bardiya, Bhaktapur and Morang have reported two cases each.
Similarly, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Saptari, Siraha, Kanchanpur, Nawalparasi (West), Nawalparasi (East), Kavre, Sindhupalchok and Makwanpur have reported one Covid-19 case each.
According to the ministry, 36 patients have been discharged after recovery. However, three patients have been readmitted in the isolation facilities after they tested positive in retests.
