Veteran climber Kami Rita Sherpa on Tuesday reached the summit of Mount Everest, second time in a week, taking his record of setting foot on the top of the world to 24 times.

Kami Rita, 49, returned from the 8,848-metre peak on May 15. But after a brief rest, he set off for the mountain on May 18 to repeat the feat.
"Kami Rita reached the summit of Everest at 6:38 am on Tuesday,” Mingma Sherpa, chairman of Seven Summit Treks, Kami Rita’s expedition organiser, told the Post. He was leading a team of Indian police.
Kami Rita, currently working as a senior climbing guide at Seven Summit Treks, scaled Mt Everest for the first time on May 13, 1994.
Kami Rita started his summit push from Camp IV on Monday night and reached the summit point on Tuesday morning.
