The SWC released Rs 9,975,000, allocated for the fiscal 2017/18, during the last week of the fiscal year, at the direction of Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen, and SWC Chairman Tham Maya Thapa.
A source claimed that most of the organisations that received the government funding are close to Minister Thapa.
SWC member secretary Dilli Prasad Bhatta said the funds were disbursed as per the decision taken by the meeting of the Executive Committee chaired by SWC Chairman and Minister Thapa on July 5.
“We did not disburse the amount on our own,” said Bhatta, talking to the Post on Tuesday, “We studied the proposal before disbursing the funds.” Bhatta further said the meeting deemed it appropriate to disburse the budget rather than letting it freeze.
The funds had remained frozen since the fiscal 2016/17 and it was disbursed as per the annual budget of the SWC, said Bhatta.
