The Nepali Congress has fielded notorious don Ganesh Lama, who has been charged for amassing millions of properties through illegal means, as a candidate for provincial assembly elections from Kavrepalanchok constituency 1 (Kha).
Lama was a central leader of the Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar-led Nepal Loktantrik Forum which has now merged with the NC.
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation on May 19, 2013 had filed a case against Lama on charges of amassing millions of rupees through illegal means.
Despite the case being sub judice, Lama had filed his candidacy from Kavre-2 in the second Constituent Assembly election and garnered 4,908 votes.
Meanwhile, the leftist alliance has fielded CPN (MC) leader Ganga bahadur Tamang, who had lost in the recently held local level elections in Temal Rural Municipality to NC’s Salam Singh Lama, as the candidate for federal parliament election from Kavrepalanchok constituency 1.
