An Indian national, who was killed in police action a week ago in Birgunj, was involved in the abduction of businessman Suresh Kedia, claimed police.
Dilsad Ahmad, 28, of East Champaran in Indian state of Bihar was killed in police action on October 9 at Shiromanitol, Birgunj. According to the District Police Office in Parsa, the security personnel opened fire in retaliation after a pillion rider of a motorcycle shot at police during a security check.
The man, who was later identified as Ahmad with the help of an identity card recovered from his body, died on the spot.
A police investigation has revealed that Ahmad had been involved in various criminal activities like abduction and armed robbery in the past. It was found that he served three and half years in Birgunj Prison after being convicted on two different charges. According to investigation officers, he had been convicted on arms and ammunition and looting charges.
Kedia, a member of Kedia Organisation, had been abducted from Baghaban along the Kalaiya-Mahagadhi road stretch of Bara district in May. He was freed
from Motihari, India, after four days.
Police claimed Ahmad and his group had abducted Kedia and took him to India in a Bolero with Indian registration number. The abduction, according to police, was masterminded by notorious Indian criminal Babloo Dube who has been serving term in Motihari jail.
