Even though polls were scheduled for 9am, voting began around noon, at Rastriya Sabha Griha, due to technical glitches.
NWA is holding its conclave after almost a decade. The 3rd general convention has 53 candidates vying for 126 positions.
There are two presidential candidates, two for general secretary, two for treasurer, 47 candidates for 22 open central committee members, 11 candidates for three Janajati central committee members, seven candidates for three and three candidates for one Muslim central committee member, said the election committee.
Uma Regmi is vying for presidency and Dhana Khatiwada for general secretary from the establishment side, while Meena Pandey and Goma KC are fielded by the other faction led by Ram Chandra Poudel for president and general secretary respectively. The convention has about 2,200 representatives from all 75 districts.
Senior party leaders, including Ram Sharan Mahat and Defense Minister Bal Krishna Khand, were seen engaging themselves with the representatives.
