Two persons, including Nepali Congress Mahasamiti member, died in a road accident at Adhabhar along the Pathlaiya-Amlekhgunj road section on Monday.

The accident happened when a Kakarbhitta-bound passenger bus (Na 5 Kha 5696) collided head-on with a car (Ba 3 Cha 8097) heading towards Kathmandu.

Police identified the deceased as Lal Kumari Pokharel, 37, of Katari-3 in Udayapur and driver Dhruba Bahadur Karki, 42, of Mahadevsthan-1 in Kavre.

NC Mahasamiti member Pokharel, who was also the   former Free Students Union (FSU) chairperson at Kathmandu-based Padmaka-nya Campus, was on her way to the Capital from Birgunj. Police have impounded the bus and taken the driver under control for investigation, Inspector Puroshottam Khadka said.

Two killed in truck hit

ITAHARI: Two persons died when a truck hit a motorcycle at Itahari Sub-metropolis-19 along the East-West Highway on Sunday evening. Police identified the deceased as Manish Bista, 21, Krishna Chaudhary, 26, of Baklauri-2 in Sunsari district. The two died while undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan. The truck driver is at large.
