Votes are being counted for the election of 25 Central Working Committee members of the Nepali Congress (NC) under the open competition. NC leaders Khum Bahadur Khadka, Prakash Man Singh, Shekhar Koirala, Bimelandra Nidhi, and Pradeep Giri among other leaders were taking the lead until 150 votes were counted as of Wednesday evening.
Some of the big names of Nepali Congress have failed to make it among the 25 central members. The counting was halted from 7 pm on Wednesday and will resume at 10 am on Thursday, said NC sources.
According to NC central election committee secretary Pradeep Parajuli, votes of only 25 members under open category are being counted. Altogether 90 candidates are vying for the 25 members. Vote count of the central members under regional and reservation quota would begin from Thursday.
