Considering the increase in the number of patients visiting the hospital, the Hospital Development Committee is planning to set up 165 more beds in the near future. The hospital has 435 beds at
present.
“We have already build a new building to set up the beds,” Medical Superintendent Dr Keshav Bhurtel said, adding that the set-up process would complete by mid-February.
The new building will house post-operation ward, intensive care unit and general ward, among others.
The hospital is also planning to increase its human resources.
Bhurtel said the hospital needs 90 staff nurses, 15 doctors and 50 office assistants.
Hospital Development Committee Chairman Bijaya Subedi said every now and then the hospital is overwhelmed with patients in need of emergency medical assistant and the hospital does not have enough beds.
“There were times when the hospital had treated the patients on the floor. We hope such situation will not arise after we increase the number of beds,” Subedi said.
