An 80-year-old woman was hacked to death in Janaki Rural Municipality-9, Amrawati, Kailali district, on Tuesday morning.
According to the District Police Office in Kailali, the body of Matadevi Shahi was found on her bed in her bedroom at around 8:15 am. She had been living alone at the residence.
Preliminary investigations suggest she was attacked with a sharp weapon, with injuries observed on her chest and neck. Police deployed a sniffer dog to aid the investigation, but no concrete leads have been established so far.
The body has been sent to Tikapur Hospital for post-mortem, and further investigation into the incident is ongoing, said police.
