According to Deputy Inspector General of Police Pankaj Shrestha, who is also the West Regional Police chief, a search team has been mobilised in the area. “Investigations so far show that the location from where he went missing must be in between Ghorepani of Myagdi and Ghandruk of Kaski,” Shrestha said. “However, there are no clues on his whereabouts.”
Meanwhile, an independent search and rescue team is also searching for the trekker in the area. The search using a helicopter on Wednesday was called off as the missing man could not be located. Another team with trained dogs has already left Pokhara for the search.
Jennifer E Peters, wife of Thian Poh, said about 35 villagers looked for him all night on Sunday. “I was only told on Tuesday,” said Peters in an email to the Post. “He had left Kuala Lumpur on March 29. He was with the Holiday Tibet Trekking company and he went for the Khopra Danda Trek.” Peters is on her way to Nepal and will fly to Pokhara on Thursday.
Police said Thian Poh has been missing since around 1:30pm on Sunday.
