The kind gesture was shown by Ganesh Poudel, proprietor of Deurali Farm House in Majheripatan. The camel, approximately aged eight years, is being taken care of at the farm house. The animal was taken to the farm with the help of Krishna Hari Subedi from Archalbot who had spent 12 years in gulf countries taking care of camels.
“The owners apparently vanished after the carnivals, leaving the camel astray and I felt like rescuing the camel after watching its rueful condition,” Poudel said, adding that the animal will be well nurtured as the farm has ample space and a conducive environment. Poudel is also contemplating on bringing a male camel from Biratnagar to provide companionship to the rescued animal.
According to conservationist Krishna Mani Baral, the camel was rescued with the permission of the officials at the District Administration Office.
The camel, found in rueful conditions, had been found strolling around the city in places like Lakeside, Zero Kilometre, Masbar and Baglung Bus Park, causing traffic jams and difficulty for pedestrians.
