Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) Index fell by 31.50 points on Thursday, closing at 2,922.63 as the week’s final trading session ended in the red. The decline marks a 1.06 percent drop compared to the previous day, continuing the market’s downward trend.
Out of the companies traded, 198 saw a decline in their share prices, while only 52 managed to register gains.
A total of 36.87 million shares were exchanged in 168,594 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs15.98 billion. This marks a decline in trading volume and turnover compared to Wednesday, when the total turnover stood at Rs16.44 billion.
Among the 13 traded sub-indices, all but one ended in negative territory. The finance subgroup was the sole sector to post gains, rising by 1.18 percent.
The broad-based losses come amid persistent investor caution, with profit-taking and weak momentum affecting most sectors. Market analysts noted that while finance stocks saw some interest, other key sectors struggled to maintain earlier gains.
The overall market trend this week suggests continued volatility, with resistance near the 3,000-point level remaining a significant barrier for the Nepse Index.
