The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index inched up by 4.78 points on Monday, marking a modest 0.18 percent gain compared to the previous trading session. With this uptick, the benchmark index closed above the 2,600-point mark.
Despite the index rising slightly, the total trading volume declined notably. A total of 70,831 transactions were recorded, with 175.87 million shares changing hands, amounting to a turnover of Rs6.47 billion. This marks a significant decrease from Sunday’s turnover of Rs9.14 billion.

Among the 13 subgroups in operation on Monday, seven closed in positive territory, while six—including development banks, life insurance, manufacturing and processing, mutual funds, non-life insurance, and others—recorded losses.
The overall performance indicates a cautious but stabilising sentiment in the market, with mixed results across sectors and a lower-than-usual trading volume.
