NEPSE dips by 24.76 points despite high trading volume crossing Rs11 billion
Hydropower stocks see selective gains even as all 13 subgroups decline.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 24.76 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,628.91. The decline of 0.93 percent marked the third consecutive day of market losses, following a fall of 3.90 points on Tuesday and 1.07 points on Monday.
Despite the downturn, market activity remained strong. NEPSE reported a total daily turnover of Rs11.23 billion from 121,551 transactions. Around 29.4 million shares were traded across listed companies, reflecting continued investor engagement.
Out of all listed stocks, 201 companies saw an increase in their share prices, while 47 experienced a decline. However, all 13 trading subgroups closed in the red.
The sharpest losses were recorded in the trading subgroup, which plunged by 104.94 points, followed by manufacturing & processing (down 73.23 points), hotels & tourism (67.61 points), and development banks (60.26 points).
The hydropower subgroup also fell by 49.57 points overall. However, several individual hydropower companies defied the trend. Shares of Panchakanya Mai Hydropower rose by 9.98 percent, followed by Madhya Bhotekoshi Hydropower (5.55 percent), Shivashree Hydropower (4.04 percent), Panchthar Power Company (3.59 percent), and Ankhu Khola Hydropower (3.23 percent).
