Mediciti, Premier launch cashless health insurance scheme
Nepal Mediciti Hospital has partnered with Premier Insurance to provide a cashless medical insurance scheme for the inpatients of the hospital. On Tuesday, Nepal Mediciti Hospital Chief Executive Officer Sudhakar Jayaram and Premier Insurance Chief Executive Officer Sudhumna Prasad Upadhyaya inked an agreement to the effect.Nepal Mediciti Hospital has partnered with Premier Insurance to provide a cashless medical insurance scheme for the inpatients of the hospital. On Tuesday, Nepal Mediciti Hospital Chief Executive Officer Sudhakar Jayaram and Premier Insurance Chief Executive Officer Sudhumna Prasad Upadhyaya inked an agreement to the effect.
Under the cashless insurance scheme, first of its kind in Nepal, patients will receive medical insurance coverage of Rs50,000 against a premium of Rs1,250.
As per the scheme, patients will not have to pay their medical expenses to the Mediciti hospital, it is the insurance company who pays their medical bills.
Similarly, Premier Insurance will provide insurance coverage of up to Rs1 million against the premium of Rs25,000.
Till now, under the existing health insurance schemes where patients will first pay their medical expenses to the hospital and forward the bills to insurance companies to claim the insurance coverage.
According to Mediciti Hospital Chairman Upendra Mahato, only few countries in the world have this type of cashless health insurance.
Mahato said the hospital has brought policy on behalf of the hospitalised patients.
Premier Insurance Chairman Suresh lal Shrestha said that they partnered with Mediciti to make health insurance a nationwide campaign and it would contribute immensely to the health sector.
