The party, formed in April last year with the merger of six fringe Madhes-based parties, had decided to hold the convention within a year but failed to do so.
The presidium meeting on Tuesday decided to call the political committee meeting on June 8, according Mahendra Raya Yadav, an RJP-N presidium member. “The political committee would finalise the date of national convention of the party,” he said.Another party presidium meeting scheduled for May 28 would first finalise the statute and regulation of its parliamentary party prepared by leader Laxman Lal Karna weeks ago.Besides, the meeting would also finalise the date to elect parliamentary party officials and recommend names for three state ministers to be inducted into Province 2 Cabinet.
The RJP-N is yet to elect its parliamentary party leader, deputy leader, chief whip and whip, among others.Party’s meetings were delayed as coordinator of the party’s six-member presidium Mahantha Thakur was not keeping well. Thakur could not attend long meetings after returning from a follow-up treatment in the Indian capital New Delhi.
