A meeting of the KMG board decided to appoint Sirohiya, also the CEO of Kantipur Television Network and Kantipur Digital Corp, as the group CEO, bringing the Kantipur Publications and Radio Kantipur under his leadership.
After founding KDC in 2013, Sirohiya has led the digitisation drive of all the media outlets of Kantipur. KDC, which has now grown to become Nepal’s largest digital media company, has successfully achieved 100 percent growth in traffic and 5,000 percent growth in revenues, with its six sub-brands disseminating quality content across the globe.
He was appointed the CEO of Kantipur Television last year, and under his leadership the network is undergoing major transformations. It plans to start HD transmission soon after completing the repackaging and rebranding.
In 2016, Sirohiya founded M&S Holdings under which he led five companies—a digital video magazine, a tourism company, a business accelerator, an artificial intelligence research lab and a portfolio management company.
“Leading such a large media institution comes with a huge responsibility,” said Sirohiya after his appointment as the CEO. “Since its establishment, Kantipur has always put public accountability and media responsibility ahead of its business interests. It will continue to do so,” he added. “Kantipur’s print, television and digital audience are growing by the year. Our print circulation today has reached record levels and is growing by the day. Simultaneously our digital reach has grown manifold.”
Stating that one of Kantipur’s main priorities in the days ahead will be to continue re-strengthening its journalists with technology and resources to ensure quality news, the newly appointed CEO said: “I would like to assure our colleagues, advertisers and readers that more innovations will continue in every aspect of our business model in future.”
