In a telephone conversation with party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Sharma informed about his decision to pull-out from the by-election due to health reasons. He also urged Dahal to field an alternative after his inability to contest the polls.
Sharma was heading to Baglung to prepare for the elections but his health condition deteriorated. He has been admitted to a private-hospital in Pokhara for treatment.
The Election Commission is holding the by-election as NC lawmaker Hari Bahadur Khadka, who was elected from the constituency, died in a road accident on December 3 last year.
Nepali Congress has fielded Khadka’s spouse Champadevi Khadka while Man KC will contest the election from the CPN-UML.
