The death toll from a jeep accident in Soru Rural Municipality-7 of Mugu district has reached five on Tuesday morning.

According to Mugu District Police Office, a man rescued from the accident site succumbed to injuries while being rushed to Mugu District Hospital for treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Mahesh Basnet said four passengers were seriously injured in the accident.

The accident occurred on Monday after a jeep, travelling towards Gamgadhi from Sorukot, fell some 200 metres off the road.

Two among nine aboard the vehicle died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the local health post.

Personnel from the Tarapani police station and locals recovered the bodies from the accident site.
