With 1,947 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 730,479

Nepal on Saturday reported 1,947 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 730,479.
Similarly, 677 people tested positive in a total of 4,906 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,749,484 PCR and 391,835 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,667 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 20 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,259. The number of active cases stands at 39,405.
According to the ministry, 680,815 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,320 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 795 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 535 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 164 in Lalitpur and 96 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 280 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 25 in Province 2, 1,059 in Bagmati, 327 in Gandaki, 147 in Lumbini, 52 in Karnali and 57 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 22 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 760 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 186—57 in Province 1, 105 in Bagmati, seven in Gandaki, 10 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and five in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 3,194 new coronavirus cases and 35 new deaths. Similarly, 2,473 new coronavirus cases and 32 new deaths were recorded on Thursday and 2,616 new coronavirus cases and 30 new deaths were reported on Wednesday.
