With 2,726 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 685,673
The Health Ministry reports 20 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Tuesday reported 2,726 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 685,673.
Similarly, 1,173 people tested positive in a total of 4,863 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Tuesday, 3,563,978 PCR and 299,624 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 12,655 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 20 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,758. The number of active cases stands at 28,836.
According to the ministry, 647,079 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,778 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 774 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 475 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 167 in Lalitpur and 132 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 791 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 55 in Province 2, 1,227 in Bagmati, 455 in Gandaki, 104 in Lumbini, 28 in Karnali and 66 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 11 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 22 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Tuesday, 611 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 171—46 in Province 1, 94 in Bagmati, 19 in Gandaki, seven in Lumbini and two in Sudurpaschim and three in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 2,391 new coronavirus cases and 25 deaths. Similarly, 1,539 new cases and 18 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Sunday and 2,309 new coronavirus cases and 16 deaths were recorded on Saturday.
