Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,932 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 265,698 with 430 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,932. The country also recorded 430 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 265,268 with 4,373 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 259,358 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 390 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 259 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 221 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 29 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 123,857. While Kathmandu has reported 482 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 152 and 111 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 962 individuals from Bagmati Province, 248 from Lumbini Province, 222 from Province 1, 216 from Province 2, 193 from Gandaki Province, 65from Sudurpaschim Province, and 26 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 1,992,855 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,300 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 14 new infections were reported in Province 1 and 302 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported nine, 95, two and 120cases respectively. Province 2 did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Taplejung and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
While 157 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 35 others—20 in Bagmati Province, four in Lumbini, seven in Gandaki, two in Sudurpaschim, and one each in Karnali and Province 1—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 10 Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,927 new cases. Similarly, five Covid-19-related deaths and 259 new infections were recorded on Sunday and three deaths and 259 new infections on Saturday.
