Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,321 with 16 more deaths; national tally reaches 220,308 with 1,669 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported 16 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,321. The country also recorded 1,699 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 220,308 with 19,963 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 5,699 infected people have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 957 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 773 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 131 in Lalitpur and 53 in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 102,728. While Kathmandu has reported 321 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 90 and 84 respectively.
According to the ministry, 651 individuals from Bagmati Province, 185 from Lumbini Province, 174 from Province 2, 171 from Province 1, 88 from Gandaki Province, 37 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 15 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,660,075 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,032 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 242 new infections were reported in Province 1, 61 in Province 2, and 1,028 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 102, 171 and 65 cases respectively. Karnali Province did not report new infections today.
Eight districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski, Rupandehi and Kailali—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Mugu districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 359 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 66 others—38 in Bagmati Province, 14 in Gandaki Province, eight in Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, two in Sudurpaschim ad one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported seven Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,674 new cases.
Compared to 22 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,945 new infections on Friday and 17 deaths and 2,103 new infections on Thursday.
