Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,221 with six more deaths; national tally reaches 209,776 with 1,477 new infections
While 354 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 64 others are on ventilator support, according to the Health Ministry.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported six more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,221. The country also recorded 1,477 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 209,776 with 35,125 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 2,798 infected people recovered in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 807 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 632 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 133 in Lalitpur and 42 in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 96,658. While Kathmandu has reported 299 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 84 and 76 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 605 individuals from Bagmati Province, 171 each from Province 2 and Lumbini Province, 156 from Province 1, 73 from Gandaki Province, 31 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 14 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 1,609,079 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,476 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 128 new infections were reported in Province 1, 18 in Province 2, and 917 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 64, 282, 12 and 56 cases respectively.
Fourteen districts—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Kavre, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, Rupandehi, Palpa and Kailali—have more than 500 active cases. Manang is the only district that does not have any active case, according to the ministry.

Nepal on Saturday reported 13 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,946 new cases compared to 13 deaths and 2,111 new infections on Friday and 15 deaths and 1,913 new infections on Thursday.
