More bodies recovered from various landslides in Myagdi; death toll reaches 27
Around 700 people from at least 50 houses have been displaced by landslides since Thursday.Ghanshyam Khadka
The death toll in Myagdi landslides has reached 27 as of Saturday evening.
According to the Gandaki Province Police, twenty seven bodies were recovered until 8 pm on Saturday. The bodies have been identified with the help of locals.
“Among the deceased, 18 are from Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, eight from Malika and another one from Raghu Ganga,” reads a statement released by Deputy Superintendent Rajendra Babu Regmi. “Twelve individuals who had sustained injuries have been sent to different hospitals.”
Around 896 people from Beni Municipality and Dhaulagiri, Malika and Raghu Ganga rural municipalities have been transferred to safer locations. Food, blankets, mats, and other relief materials have been distributed in the affected area by the help of different organisations in coordination with Myagdi District Administration.
Around 700 people from at least 50 houses have been displaced.
Bim, Dhule and Nurwang villages of Malika Rural Municipality, and Marang, Kalleni, Ramche and Rikha of Dhaulagiri have been adversely affected.
