Machhindra, Satdobato reach final

Machhindra FC and Satdobato Youth Club will lock horns in the title clash of the KP Oli Cup final on Wednesday.
The A-Division League champions defeated hosts KP FC 1-0 at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato thanks to a first half strike from Bimal Gharti Magar.
Gharti Magar gave Machhindra the lead with an easy finish after running into a long pass from Rejin Dhimal into the penalty box.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser with a competitive game plan but Machhindra held on to their lead, and set up a final against Satdobato Youth Club, who shocked Tribhuvan Army Club 6-5 on sudden death after their second-half ended in a goalless draw.
The first half of the semi-final between Army and Satdobato was played on Sunday. The second half had to be cancelled and put off till Monday after heavy rain and severe winds affected the match.
The penalty shootout went into sudden death after both teams scored four goals each in their five tries. Army goalkeeper Bikesh Kuthu saved Dipak Raj Singh Thakuri’s kick before Bikash Khawas hit the crossbar to push the game to an intense climax.
In the sudden death, Dipak Gurung held his nerve and made it look easy but Army’s Sudil Rai could not hit the net after Satdobato goalie Abhishek Baral snatched the victory with a player of the match save.
The final will be played at the Dasharath Stadium. The winners will receive a purse of Rs1 million, while the runners-up will cash Rs500,000.
The player of the tournament will earn Rs100,000, and the best goalkeeper, top scorer and rising player will bag Rs50,000 each.
