Koshi Province clinched a 9-wicket victory against Gandaki Province in the ongoing Prime Minister Cup Men’s Cricket Tournament on Sunday.
In the match played at the Extratech Oval, Bhairahawa, Koshi chased down a meagre target of 32 runs set by Gandaki in just 8.2 overs, losing only one wicket. This marked Koshi’s first win in the tournament.
For Koshi, Shakib Haq remained unbeaten with 16 runs, while Chirag Shah scored 10 and Sonu Ansari added an unbeaten four runs.
On the bowling front, Subash Bhandari of Gandaki took one wicket.
This victory was not just a win for Koshi but also revenge for their previous defeat against Gandaki. On January 21, 2024, during the Prime Minister Cup at Mulpani Cricket Ground, Koshi was bowled out for just 25 runs while chasing a target of 167 set by Gandaki.
Koshi’s disciplined bowling earlier restricted Gandaki to a paltry 31 runs in 20.4 overs. Koshi then comfortably chased the target, losing only one wicket.
Gandaki, batting first, struggled immensely and were bundled out for 31 runs. Koshi’s Bipin Mahato was the star bowler, claiming six wickets in his eight overs and conceding only 17 runs. Firdosh Ansari took three wickets, while Dipesh Kandel grabbed one.
For Gandaki, only Bansh Chhetri reached double figures, scoring 10 runs. The other batters failed to make an impact, with three players dismissed for ducks.
