Nepal suffered their second consecutive defeat in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup as Scotland edged past them by one wicket in a tense encounter at YSD-UKM Cricket Oval, Bangi, Malaysia, on Monday.
Nepal, batting first, set a modest target of 74 runs. Scotland’s disciplined bowling attack ensured Nepal never found momentum, with Scotland’s Maisie Maceira taking five wickets for just 15 runs in 3.5 overs. Nepal’s captain, Puja Mahato, top-scored with 27 runs off 43 balls, while Sabitri Dhami managed 10 off 11 balls. Extras added 14 to Nepal’s total as their innings concluded in the 19th over.
Chasing 74, Scotland faced stiff resistance from Nepal’s bowlers, losing nine wickets before securing victory with eight balls remaining.
Nepal had earlier lost their opening Group D match against Bangladesh by five wickets. They will now face Australia in their final group-stage match, with their chances of advancing to the Super Six stage looking increasingly slim.
