Chitwan Tigers sign Sri Lanka’s Prasanna and Malaysia’s Singh

Sri Lankan cricketer Seekkuge Prasanna and Malaysian Virandeep Singh have joined Chitwan Tigers for the Everest Premier League twenty20 cricket tournament starting from September 25 at the TU cricket grounds in Kirtipur.
Issuing a statement on Thursday, Chitwan Tigers confirmed that the duo would feature from the team in the six-team franchise tournament. They have already announced the signing of Afghanistan batsman Mohammad Shahzad and Pakistan's Danish Aziz for the two-week tournament.
Prasanna, a 36-year-old all-rounder, is known for his ability as leg spin bowler and hard hitter batsman. He made his Test and ODI debuts in 2011 and Twenty20I debut in 2013.
He has scored 214 runs in 20 T20Is and 421 runs in 40 One-Day Internationals. He has claimed 10 wickets in T20Is and 32 in ODIs.
He has also played in the Bangladesh Premier League, English county cricket, Pakistan Super League and the Caribbean Premier League among others .
“Prasanna is a player with enormous quality. His bowling and batting, both can change the course of a match. A must have match-winner in any side. His experience all around the world will further strengthen Chitwan Tigers’ case for the trophy. He will be a value addition to our side,” Kishor Bhattarai, the team's owner said.
Malaysian Singh is an emerging star in Associate cricket. The 22-year-old Malaysian vice captain made his T20I debut against Thailand in 2019. He is familiar with the TU grounds and had scored 87 runs off 53 deliveries against the Netherlands in the Tri-Nation T20 Series held in April.
“A proud day for Malaysian Cricket. We are indeed elated at the news of one of our top performers being signed on. EPL is a great window of opportunity for Virandeep to showcase his talent,” Malaysia Cricket Association said in a Facebook post.
“As a fellow associate member, it is our responsibility to move together and look after each other’s talent. We are looking forward to Virandeep joining the youth ranks of Tigers and be a value addition,” said Binita Chaudhary Bhattarai, the operations director of Chitwan Tigers.
