“I was always very interested in filmmaking. And when the producers approached me for the role, I was excited, and the film well proved to be a learning experience,” Limbu said. On the musical front, Limbu is slated to release a music video next month.
Lahure is set in Dharan and tells the story of aspiring candidates for the job of British Army. “The trend is quite huge in Nepal, especially in the east, which has both positive and negative aspects. But we have tried to show the trend without making an over-commentary on the trend. Which is necessary when you’re working on putting light on real social issues,” said director and actor Tharu. “If there is one thing that I am trying to show through the film, it is that being an army cadet does not have to be the final destination in life like many aspiring ones may believe it would be.”
Alongside Limbu, Lahure features actors Sristi Shrestha and Miruna Magar and also the film’s director Tharu. “The popularity of Limbu, Shrestha, and Magar might prove instrumental in getting the youths to watch the film,” the film’s producer, Sunil Rawal, said. The film is written by Negative Buddha and photographed by Alok Shukla. Lahure is the fifth film produced under the banner of Durgish Films; the banner known for films like Saayad, Hostel, Hostel Returns, and Saayad 2.
In the meantime, the producers at Durgish Films are also gearing up for the shooting of Oolan Myani, a film which is slated to star musician Adrian Pradhan.
Lahure will release nationwide on May 11.
