Three months after rapper Yama Buddha’s demise, at his London apartment in January, his final album—Khatra was released in March this year. Two months later, the only music video from the album, accompanying the album’s first song Taaj, and the last ever from the artist was released via YouTube on Tuesday. 

The song and the music video together explore Yama Buddha’s personal reflections of and disagreement with the society. A portion of the lyric that reads: “Yo naya yuga, yuddha huna sakchha yaha, chhaina kohi yaha suddha, chhaina kohi yaha buddha, dhongi patra matra…” voices his hopelessness and need for an escape. 

Edited by Raywot Shrestha, the video, shot in London just a few days before the rapper’s death, features the artist singing on the foreground of murals.
