Two Bollywood artists, singer Anuradha Paudwal and actor Prafulla Singh, were honoured amid a ceremony held at Hotel Harrison Palace in Biratnagar on Saturday, March 4.
During the event, Morang Merchant Association’s chairperson and constituent assembly member, Pawan Sarada, and Morang’s district chief officer, Yagya Raj Koirala, presented singer Paudwal with a gift, shawl and bouquet. Actor Singh was also honoured and presented with gifts from National Group’s Moti Dugar.
Speaking at the event, singer Paudwal said, “I started my musical journey singing religious songs about Durga and released it here at Pashupatinath and now I feel lucky to be back here again.” She added, “Even though I have not sung many Nepali songs, Nepali people have always loved me and my work, so I am really thankful to them.”
Singer Paudwal, the receipient of the Padma Shree award presented by the Indian government, has over the long-spanning career lend her vocie to about 9,000 Hindi songs and more than 1,500 religious tunes. She has also sung songs in Nepali, Maithali, Bhojpuri and Punjabi languages.
