Pariyar lights up Lamjung Mahotsav

The fifth edition of the biennial Lamjung Mahotsav, currently being held in Besisahar, saw a performance by folk singer Raju Pariyar on Monday. The festival, organised by Lamjung Chamber of Commerce, features a total of 200 stalls with various traditional art and artifacts from indigenous groups from the district. The fest has also been seeing a host of musical and dance performances.
The fest’s fourth day was highlighted by Pariyar’s performance which included renditions of an array of popular folk songs.
Pariyar, the acclaimed folk singer, was welcomed on the stage by a cheering crowd. Addressing the crowd, Pariyar said, “I am very delighted to perform in the festival after such a long time. I couldn’t perform here earlier due to the busy schedule but I am really happy that I can perform in front of you now.”
During his hour-long performance, Pariyar performed hits like Darau Siruwari, Marsangdi Ko Pani, Kaha ho Maiti Mawali, Jimjhim Sanu, among many others.
The fest on Monday also saw performances by artists Ganshyam Rijal, Chandra Kari, and Jaya Kumar Pariyar. According to the organisers, the funds raised from the festival will be used in various development activities in the district.
The festival will come to an end on Sunday, December 18.
