Jhamak’s lifestory to be adapted to screen
A Nepali feature film based on the life story of literatteur Jhamak Kumari Ghimire is set to be shot. The project was kickstarted at Ghimire’s home in Dhankuta on Monday.

A Nepali feature film based on the life story of literatteur Jhamak Kumari Ghimire is set to be shot. The project was kickstarted at Ghimire’s home in Dhankuta on Monday.
The film features Rojita Budhdhacharya in the lead role, where she will play the cinematic alter ego of the differently-abled writer Ghimire.
The movie, directed by Binod Bista, will be filmed under the banner of Bista Brothers Film Private Limited and Classic Cine Universe Private Limited. The film will be of a national and international significance, claims the director.
The venture will be filmed mostly in the vicinity of Dhankuta district and will be shot in parts of Dharan and Kathmandu.
Born to an impoverished farming family in Dhankuta, 35-year-old Ghimire has more than a dozen books to her credit, including Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool, Sankalpa, Afnai Chitaa Agnishikhatir, Manchhe Bhitraka Yoddaharu, Quaati, and Be Mausam Ka Aastha Haru; moreover, Jhamak is also the recipient of five dozen awards for her literary achievements. She has also received the prestigious Madan Puraskar for her autobiography Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool (2011).
Recently, Ghimire was awarded the Lainsingh Bangdel Memorial Award.
The film will feature actors Rojita Budhdhacharya, Krishna Sunar, Uma Giri, Menuka Pradhan, Sarita Ghimire, and Tanisha Pokharel, among others. The film will also feature the writer herself.
